REVIEW: Dirty Martini

Dirty Martini is in Leeds and it was worth the wait!

Last night we were lucky enough to attend the launch of Leeds’ latest bar, the famous Dirty Martini.

Dirty Martini are known for their bespoke range of martinis, signature cocktails and glamorous interiors creating a unique destination to shake up your favourite cocktails every night of the week. – Literally! We shook a few of our very own martinis, with guidance from their bubbly bar staff.

It all started in London for Dirty Martini, they have 7 bars now located in London, 1 in Cardiff and they have recently opened their Manchester site too and we’re delighted they chose Leeds for their next location in their rapid expansion plan.

As we entered Dirty Martini we were greeted by bubbly staff, who gave us some information on the history of Dirty Martini before explaining the layout of the venue.

We headed up stairs through their spiral staircase to the upstairs bar and ordered some drinks, throughout the night we tried and tested several different martinis prepared by their superstar bar staff, particular highlights were the Zeitgesit which is Beefeater 24 Gin shaken with Briottet Crème de Rhubarb, fresh lemon juice, gomme syrup, Monin chai tea syrup and blackcurrant compotte, served with a dash of Fever Tree Aromatic Tonic.
The Dirty Martini was also excellent, it is a martini made with Ketel One Vodka (or Tanqueray Gin if you prefer gin to vodka!), stirred with Kalamata olives, fresh thyme and a hint of Martini Extra Dry Vermouth.

The decor inside is fabulous, with exposed brick work, extravagant pieces of art on the walls, unique light fittings as well as a constant luxury black and gold theme through out the venue.

For entertainment they had their resident DJ playing from open till close, providing a mix of r&b and house supported by a brilliant live saxophonist who wandered around the ground floor bar playing along to the music in front of all the guests.

We’ll certainly be heading back to Dirty Martini for a cocktail (or 5!) and if you love your cocktails we suggest you pay it a visit quickly.
