New Menu at Arts – The Art of Food.
Arts is a well-known independent restaurant situated right in the middle of Call Lane in Leeds City Centre. Their reputation trophies nearly a quarter century of business whilst being recognised as one of Leeds finest culinary establishments. Their new ownership has brought with it a new Head Chef and fresh menu ready to keep Leeds dining scene on its toes.
The restaurants look definitely provides a place of comfort during a sweltering evening.
The light high ceilings complemented by cool blues and fresh air conditioning make this a great spot for a summer’s eve.
The new menu flirts with many different unique flavours, the combination of interesting tastes definitely showcases the effort that has been put in to the menu.
Surrendering to the summers day I ordered the “Gin Cured Salmon, Cucumber, Borage & Wasabi”. The Salmon was faultlessly cured and the taste was hard hitting especially with the gust of Wasabi. I’m not normally a huge salmon fanatic but following this starter I may have found my new preferred refreshing starter for summer. The Crispy Pigs Cheek Croquette with Beetroot and Smoked Apple seemed to be a room favourite. Having a taste of my friends’ potion of this starter, I agreed with the room. It was also mouth-watering.
Reviewing the main course options, it jumped out just how very healthy many of the options are. High protein, good fats and low carbohydrates were a consistent theme across the starters and mains – undeniably providing a range of guilt free yet tasty options. I settled on the “Gloucester Old Spot Pork Ribeye with Runner Beans, Summer Savoury and Peach”. This course was fantastic, the pork hit the spot, it was tender and soft. Again, this dish was healthy and a perfect option for anyone following a low carb/ketogenic diet.
In typical sweet tooth fashion, I was eyeing up the deserts as soon as I was passed the menu. The “Dark Chocolate & Avocado Ganache with Yorkshire Raspberry” had my name written all over it. Following the healthy starter and main I thought it was only right to choose this chocolate-based desert. The desert was magnificently displayed, extenuated by the raspberry dressing. It was nothing other than gorgeous albeit slightly small but following the previous two courses it was certainly a strikingly satisfying end to the meal.
The staff were very friendly and the overall dinning experience can’t be faulted. In my opinion the high-quality food is more than reasonable for the price – two courses for £17 and three for £21. In summary the fresh new menu showcases a great range of unique dishes, providing a perfect healthy supper spot in the heart of Leeds City Centre.
